How my journey began

“I knew I wanted to make a difference in my community, but I wasn’t sure how. Then I learned about being a doula.”

Lyanna Moore

Hello, I’m Lyanna Moore, a certified doula and certified lactation specialist. I’ve always had a desire to help others. After having my own birthing experiences, I learned more about the disparities in my community. According to the CDC, birthing people of color are 2-3x more likely to die during childbirth than white birthing people. I knew I had to be a part of the solution to decrease this disparity and create a safe space for birthing people of color. Becoming a doula was an easy choice because every birth matters and no one should feel unheard. I want to support clients before, during, and after birth. Everyone deserves to have a positive birthing experience no matter their race, socioeconomic status, gender identity, or physical ability.

I am a Detroit, MI native living in Grand Rapids, MI with my husband and three daughters.
